The Parish Area.
A Village.
Despite having a population larger than some market towns, Hagley remains a village. It has a vibrant shopping centre along Worcester Road (in West Hagley). Most local employment consists of the provision of local services, but unemployment is low. Most residents commute to work in Birmingham, Stourbridge or the adjacent Black Country.Hagley Primary School (in Park Road) is a popular one. Haybridge High School has a record of high achievement. This also applies to Hagley Roman Catholic High School, which serves Catholics in a rather wider area.
Hagley has two Anglican churches (see www.hagleycofe.co.uk) and a Free Church.
Hagley is surrounded by Green Belt land, which (amongst other things) provides a gap between it and the adjacent urban area of the Black Country.
Population.
According to the parish profiles calculated from the 2001 census data, the populations of the parish is as follows:| YEAR | POPULATION |
| 1981 | 4226 |
| 1991 | 4258 |
| 2001 | 4283 |
However, the population of the whole village of Hagley (including the part in Clent Parish) is probably about 5600.
